I am honored and humbled to begin my work as the new instructional leader of Family Life Academy Charter School. The moment a child, parent or anyone enters our school they are embraced by an environment of high standards, high achievement, and a love of learning. It is an exhilarating experience when walking through the hallways and watching children working diligently with great enthusiasm.
For me, schools are communities of memory, hope, and caring. Our shared hopes for the future should be nurtured by FLACS’ proud history and our constant caring for the community and what it represents. Our faculty and staff believe that their work at FLACS is their vocation thus they have an unyielding passion to ensure the success of every single student in our school. Everyone is determined to introduce every child to a world larger than his or her own experiences, a world that expands a child’s personal boundaries and that enlarges his or her sense of community.
The four primary areas of focus for this year are Academic Excellence, Financial Sustainability, Leadership and Technology. These four critical areas reinforce each other in order to create a challenging and enriching curriculum that supports children in becoming critical thinkers and in obtaining the skills necessary to compete in our world.
We believe in diversity and embrace families from all cultures that speak a language other than English. Students at FLACS are empowered to affirm others through words, deeds and actions. FLACS creates an environment that is passionate about community, family and learning! I am privileged to be a part of it.
