Lottery

FLACS strives to make student enrollment as transparent and effortless as possible. The following information provides a summary of the enrollment process. If after reading the information below you have questions about enrolling your child at FLACS, please contact Sandra Flores, the Pupil and Transportation Assistant.

Kindergarten

Parents are required to submit a completed application to FLACS in order for their child to be considered for enrollment. There are no interviews or minimum academic or language requirements for enrollment. The lottery for kindergarten enrollment will take place on Friday April 9th 2010 for the 2010-2011 academic year. FLACS may enroll up to 52 kindergarten students each academic year. For parents not present at the kindergarten lottery, FLACS will send a notice by mail indicating their child’s lottery number and if their child is on the waiting list. Accepted applicants will receive a letter and a phone call to schedule a registration appointment. If parents fail to attend and do not reschedule their appointments within two weeks of their original scheduled time, they forfeit their child’s enrollment that is then made available to a child on the waiting list.

  • Kindergarten applications are due Friday, March 26 2010
  • Kindergarten Lottery will take place on Friday, April 9 2010

First through Sixth Grade Lottery

Parents may submit an application for first through sixth grade enrollment throughout the year. Applicants for first through sixth grade are automatically placed on a waiting list. There is no public lottery for first through sixth grade. FLACS will contact families if an opening is made available for their child’s respective grade. Children that reside in Community District Nine and that are siblings of currently enrolled students have priority for enrollment.

Application

Admission for kindergarten through sixth grade is by lottery. Applications for the lottery for the 2010-2011 academic year are now available. Please visit FLACS to pick up an application.
