Support and Classroom Instruction
FLACS faculty convenes monthly to support each other in their teaching experiences and to assess individual students, classrooms, and grade level academic progress. The FLACS instructional team meets regularly for:
- Data Meetings: To analyze classroom assessments and discuss strategies that will help students in specific areas of study
- Child Study Meetings: To discuss concerns about individual students and brainstorm ways to support each individual student in the classroom setting
- English as a Second Language Articulation Meetings: To discuss specific strategies for working with English Language Learners.
On-Going Professional Support and Development
There is also on-going support for teachers in the form of
- Workshops (i.e. Guided Reading, Vocabulary Instruction, Differentiated Instruction, Literacy Centers, etc.)
- In-class support (i.e. Model Lessons, Observations and Feedback related to Classroom Instruction)
Peer Review
Peer Reviews are the times when colleagues examine each other’s instructional practices and lesson plans. The purpose of peer reviews is:
- To foster a collaborative environment for sharing instructional practices in order to raise overall school performance
- To support colleagues with instructional planning already underway
- To support colleagues preparing “suitable-for-replication” units of instruction for incentive-based compensation
- To recommend high-quality units of instruction for network-level review
- Our school level reviews are scheduled in March and April.
