Summer Kindergarten Success Institute

Summer Kindergarten Success Institute (SKSI) is a five week summer program for children expected to enroll in kindergarten at FLACS in the approaching fall. SKSI’s objective is for 52 children to acquire the fundamental literacy skills necessary to thrive in and beyond Kindergarten and for parents to develop into education partners with the school. SKSI will operate from June 28th 2010 to July 30th 2010. SKSI focuses on:

  • Modeling the standard school day routine
  • Providing an intense literacy program
  • Using academic tools to introduce students to mathematics
  • Assessing students for English language proficiency
  • Having weekly briefings with parents to discuss their child's progress
  • Providing structured socializing opportunities

FLACS also emphasizes that education continue throughout the summer when school is out of session, especially for lower grades, and to empower parents with the knowledge and skills to reinforce education at home. SKSI will take place at FLACS- accustoming the children to what will be their new environment in the fall. The program is free of costs to families.
