Do all FLACS elementary school scholars get a seat at the middle school?
Yes, all of our FLACS elementary scholars have a seat at our middle school through our automatic enrollment system. You do not need to apply, you will be automatically enrolled.

 

Does my child have priority if he/she has a sibling in the school?
Scholars with a sibling already attending a FLACS school are given priority.

 

Are any other groups given priority in the lottery?
Yes, scholars who reside in the district the school is located in have priority in the lottery. The FLACS schools are located in District 7 and District 9. FLACS also offers a priority for English language learners. 

 

If my child is not in a priority group, should I still apply?
Yes! Every year we make offers to children who are not in a priority group. 

 

When will I know if my child was accepted?
There will be a lottery held on April 2, 2025. If your child is offered a seat, you will receive an email or text message informing you immediately.

 

If you are waitlisted, this means that you did not receive an offer in the initial lottery. But every year, we are able to make offers to some waitlisted families later in the Spring and Summer. 

 

Can I apply to FLACS if I live outside of New York City?
Any student who is a resident of New York State may apply to FLACS. We cannot provide transportation to students who live outside of New York City and we strongly encourage families to ensure they easily get their children to school every day before applying.

Do all FLACS middle school scholars get a seat at the FLACS high school?
Yes, all of our FLACS middle school scholars are guaranteed a seat at our high school. Current FLACS families submit an application, which will automatically be accepted on lottery day.

 

What are the requirements to apply to FLACS High School? 
You must live in New York State. There are no requirements to take a test, submit an essay or do an interview.

If a scholar already has high school level credits will these transfer to FLACS High School?
If a scholar already has earned high school credits or taken Regents exams, either in 8th grade or at another high school, they should bring their transcript to the main office at registration. The team will award credits for courses that meet the requirements for credit in New York State and program students for appropriate classes. 

 

Can I apply to FLACS if I live outside of New York City?
Any student who is a resident of New York State may apply to FLACS. We cannot provide transportation to students who live outside of New York City and we strongly encourage families to ensure they easily get their children to school every day before applying.
