Where are your elementary schools located? 
We are located in the Mott Haven and Highbridge sections of the Bronx. Our schools are located at W 170th Street and Jerome Avenue (near the 4/B/D trains); Gerard Avenue between E 140th Street and E 144th Street (near the 2/4/5/6 trains); and E 140th Street between 3rd and Alexander Avenues (near the 6 train).
 
What grades do you serve? 
We have three elementary schools serving students in grades K-5. Each school feeds into FLACS Middle School, which feeds into FLACS High School. 
 
How large are FLACS elementary schools?
Our smallest school has 260 students and our largest school has 416 students. There are usually two or three classes on each grade level in our elementary schools.
 
When does school start and end?
School starts at 8:00 am and ends at 3:30 pm. Scholars may arrive as early as 7:30 am for breakfast. 
 
How large are your classes?
Classes have approximately 26 scholars. Every elementary classroom (K-5) has a teacher and the support of a teaching assistant.
 
Are scholars offered breakfast and lunch daily?  
Yes! Scholars are entitled to free, healthy breakfast and lunch every day that school is in session. All of our meals are nut-free and pork-free. 
 
Do scholars have to wear uniforms in the FLACS schools?
Yes! FLACS is a uniform school. Scholars have to wear their uniforms every day to school.
 
Are scholars provided with bussing and/or with MetroCards? 
Yes! Scholars who live more than a half-mile from our schools are eligible for free transportation to school. School bussing or MetroCards are provided to our scholars by the NYC DOE Office of Pupil Transportation. Once you are registered at the school, you will be notified if the child is eligible for transportation and what type of transportation.
Where is FLACS Middle School located?
We are located at 316 East 165th Street between Teller and Findlay Avenues.
 
How large is FLACS Middle School?
There are 624 students at FLACS Middle School and 8 homerooms on each grade level. 
 
When does school start and end at FLACS Middle School?
School starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Scholars may arrive as early as 7:00 a.m. for breakfast. 
 
How many scholars are there in a FLACS Middle School class on average?
Classes have 26 scholars on average.
 
Do scholars have to wear uniforms in the FLACS schools?
Yes! FLACS is a uniform school. Scholars have to wear their uniforms every day to school.
 
Can scholars go out at lunch at FLACS Middle School?
No, all of our scholars stay in the building for lunch. Scholars may choose to eat our free, healthy breakfast and lunches, which are nut-free and pork-free or may bring a meal from home.
 
Do scholars have lockers?
Yes, FLACS Middle School scholars will have access to assigned lockers for their personal belongings.
 
Are the scholars allowed to keep their telephones with them during the school day?
No! Scholars cannot have their telephones with them during the school day. Phones must be turned off and stored for the day. If a scholar needs to contact a parent, they may use the school phones and if a family needs to contact their scholar they may use the main phone line.
 
Are 6th graders provided with bussing and/or with MetroCards? 
Scholars who live more than a half-mile from our schools are eligible for transportation to school. School bussing or MetroCards are provided to our scholars by the NYC DOE Office of Pupil Transportation. Once you are registered at the school, you will be notified if the child is eligible for transportation and what type of transportation. 
 
How does transportation work for grades 7 and 8?
There are no bussing services for grades 7 and 8 across all NYC schools. Scholars will receive a MetroCard if they live more than one-half mile from the school.
Where is the FLACS High School located?
Starting next Fall, FLACS High School will be located in its permanent home at 1401 Inwood Avenue. near the 4 train. This is a brand-new building with a large gym, roof deck, and courtyard which is accessible only to the school. 
 
How large is FLACS High School?
FLACS High School is growing, and will eventually be 700 students. In the 2023-24 school year, FLACS HS will admit approximately 200 students in Grade 9.

Classes have 26 scholars on average. Some courses will be larger or smaller depending on scholar interest and demand for the course.
